The 40th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Conference was held recently in Reno, Nevada. Here's a run-down of a few highlights.
Exhibitors
Intelligent Light was demoing the latest version of their post-processor - FIELDVIEW 8. The latest version includes FVX which
is a full-featured scripting language.
Numeca was demoing their new automatic hexahedral mesh generator - HEXpress. The software uses a volume-to-surface approach and does allow for viscous layer insertion.
PDC was demoing their grid generator GridPro.
Pointwise was demoing the beta release of their latest version of Gridgen. The new version (V14) features a scripting language called Glyph and native CAD interfaces.
Fluent was demoing FLUENT 6. The moving mesh feature was highlighted at the show.
CD adapco Group was demoing their STAR-CD software.
CEI was demoing their EnSight post-processor and new Harpoon grid generator.
Cobalt Solutions was demoing the new commerical-version of their Cobalt CFD software.
Aerosoft was demoing their GASP and GUST software.
Amtec was demoing the latest version of their post-processor - Tecplot 9.
AMI was demoing their CFD software.
AEA Technology was demoing their CFX-5 CFD software.
Metacomp Technologies was demoing their CFD++ CFD software.
Tetra Research was demoing their Tetrex CFD software.
Visual Solutions was demoing their ParaVista software.
CFDRC was demoing their CFD software.
ICEM CFD was demoing their Hexa and Tetra grid generation software.
Panels
CGNS - new features for user-defined data, reacting flow and linked files are in work.
NPARC - best practice use of the WIND code for a number of different physical conditions (subsonic, supersonic, reacting) was discussed
Pre/Post-Processing for Large Scale Simulations - most discussion focused on post-processing issues: efficient processing of large data sets, feature extraction, etc. Pre-processing focused on CAD interoperability.
Unstructured Grid Consortium - will soon publish an API for meshing modules so that capabilities of various software and organizations can be shared.
