Eye-Popping 3D Displays: From Cheap to Steep

Hardware Cadence has posted a review of stereoscopic displays. Stereoscopic displays provide the illusion of 3D space from two slightly different 2D renderings of a 3D object.

It used to be that the user needed to wear special glasses which filtered the 2D images for the left and right eye. However, new technology allows the images to be viewed correctly without glasses on special LCD monitors.

Many 3D visualization packages support stereoscopic display and the effect can be quite dramatic.
