ACUITIV Selected for Complex Mixer Analysis |

ACUITIV™ Software, the leading provider of next-generation Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) visualization software, today announced a collaboration with the University of Maryland’s High-Shear Mixing Research Program to provide next-generation CFD visualization analysis for leading chemical and pharmaceutical companies such as The Dow Chemical Company, DuPont Engineering, Koch Materials Company, Merck & Company, Inc., and Proctor & Gamble.
Founded by chemical engineering mixing expert, Professor Richard V. Calabrese, the program is an outgrowth of a grant from The Proctor & Gamble University Exploratory Research Program. The goal of the High-Shear Mixing Research Program is to better understand the underlying fluid complexities in rotor-stator mixers and its affect on process performance for production of various foods, pharmaceuticals, and health and beauty products, as well as paints, inks dyes and other commodities.

“The importance of high-shear mixing on products we consume and use on a regular basis is paramount. A better understanding of the intricacies of mixing chemical components in mass quantities can lower production costs, improve product formulations, and aid in development of new consumer products. CFD visualization and analysis tools play an instrumental role in this research,” said Mr. Calabrese, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Maryland. “The use of ACUITIV’s next-generation CFD visualization software in our joint research and development efforts with leading companies, such as Dow, DuPont, LG Chemical, Merck, Proctor & Gamble, and Syngenta, will play a major role in developing protocols and analysis techniques used by the chemical process industry and mixing vendors to improve performance and enhance machine design.”
