Renault F1 Team Racing Ahead with STAR-CD |
CFD plays a key role in modern Formula 1, in the modeling of aerodynamic components and their performance, but also in engine development through advanced in-cylinder simulation. The Renault F1 Team's design engineers use CD-adapco's CFD code STAR-CD and its associated expert system tool es-aero as an integral part of their aerodynamic development, while in the engine field, CD-adapco's tool es-ice is used for designing the combustion system, accelerating the design process by eliminating costly prototyping and testing phases.
Like all of the technology associated with the Renault F1 team, CD-adapco's products continue to evolve at great speed in order to stay in front of the competition. The latest release of the world's leading engine simulation CFD code, STAR-CD v3.24, is packed full of new features aimed directly at the engine modeling community.
"We are very proud of our association with the Renault F1 Team and congratulate them on an outstanding start to the 2005 season", said Dennis Nagy, Vice President of Marketing for CD-adapco, "STAR-CD helped influence which driver ends up standing atop the winner's podium. This result further confirms our position as technology leaders in the field of automotive aerodynamics and engine simulation"
