Discovery Channel Features FLOW-3D Simulation of Da Vinci Horse |
Using FLOW-3D simulation software and guided by the knowledge of IMSS historians, the casting of the huge horse monument was reproduced following the original drawings and design of Leonardo Da Vinci. The conclusion was that the 24-foot-high, 70-ton bronze horse would have been successfully cast in a single pouring in just 165 seconds, despite the doubts of engineers over the centuries. The simulated results speak not only to the reliability and accuracy of the project, but also give a 3D rendering of the final real appearance of the horse.
The article, “Da Vinci's Huge Horse Statue Proven Feasible” is featured on the Discovery Channel’s website and on MSNBC’s website and their http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35716050/ns/technology _and_science-science/from/ET">coverage of the Institute of History and Science's announcement.
