Intelligent Light selected Dr. Duque to manage and establish the Applied Research Group in 2006. He currently directs and manages research conducted by engineers, scientists and University Collaborators distributed around the United States and Asia.

Dr. Duque spent 13 years as a research scientist with the US Army Aeroflightdynamics Directorate at NASA Ames Research Center. He then moved in research and teaching as an Associate Research Professor at Northern Arizona University, where he directed much of his work toward wind energy and meso-scale methods development. During his tenure at NAU, Dr. Duque served 2 years serving on the board of the Northern Arizona Center for Emerging Technologies. Since joining Intelligent Light, Duque has spearheaded the development of the company’s University Partners Program supporting the development of students and teaching methods to develop CFD competence in emerging workforce. In every position, Duque builds on his expertise and experience, and increases his influence upon and support for others.

Dr. Duque and Dr. Steve Gorrell at Brigham Young University have been collaborating on research for nearly three years. “Together we are developing an exciting new capability in FieldView capable of compressing and analyzing large CFD data sets using Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD)”, says Gorrell, “I have appreciated Earl's leadership, technical expertise, and passion for the research."

Intelligent Light’s General Manager and Founder Steve M. Legensky says, “Earl has been a key contributor to rotorcraft and wind turbine CFD for many years. At Intelligent Light he has been instrumental in helping us to understand the post-processing issues of these large unsteady cases, leading to better FieldView capabilities for our customers.” An AIAA Associate Fellow himself (class of 2009), Legensky continues, “While building our Applied Research Group, Earl always finds ways to engage with key university and national lab researchers, helping to spread resources and advance the state of the art. All of this while building IL's University Partner Program to over 30 institutions throughout the world. Earl is a very special guy and I am so proud that he has been recognized for his contributions to the world of aerospace.”
