News NUMECA International, a leader in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and multiphysics software, has announced it will be contracting with Advania Data Centers to advance its High Performance Computing (HPC) offerings.

Working with Advania Data Centers and their partner UberCloud, Numeca will now be able to offer its engineering customers the opportunity to run NUMECA’s design, analysis and optimization software in the cloud and on demand.

This will greatly enhance their ability to tackle complex calculations and improve their flexibility to test them on demand, all while providing them with an HPC environment that accelerates their computing capacity.

At the core of the partnership will be Advania Data Centers’ HPCFLOW, a cloud-based HPC service that gives our customers the opportunity to access HPC resources on demand, where they pay as they go and only for what they use. Built on technology from Intel and HPE, the HPC resources are elastic, with an ability to scale up or down as needed. This allows customers to access world-class computing power without investing in or managing HPC infrastructure themselves.

Through this partnerhip, all major NUMECA software packages such as FINE™/Marine, FINE™/Turbo, FINE™/Design3D, OMNIS™/LB, AutoMesh™, and FINE™/Open with OpenLabs™ will now be available in a container.

"Until recently it was my firm belief that cloud computing for engineering applications was one of the next big challenges we had to solve," says Professor Charles Hirsch, President and founder of NUMECA International, and a world-renowned expert on Computational Fluid Dynamics. "But when we came across UberCloud's new application HPC container technology and containerized all our CFD software packages, we were surprised about the ease of use and access to any computing system on demand. We were also impressed by the flexibility of Advania to be able to respond to our immediate and future needs, by providing an HPC structure fit to our client's demands.”

In order to deliver NUMECA software to a broader audience, Advania Data Centers’ HPC cluster provisioning and management capabilities will be paired with services from UberCloud, who will provide containers to run NUMECA’s software applications in the cloud. UberCloud’s software containers are production-ready with full GUI capabilities, making it easy to access cloud-based applications and data.

NUMECA selected Advania Data Centers to serve as its partner due to the range and quality of services that the company provides. This includes its HPCFLOW service as well as its state-of-the-art data centers, which have industry-leading levels of service and lower operations costs. Located in Iceland, their data centers benefit from access to free direct air cooling and have a power usage effectiveness (PUE) from 1.03, the lowest rates world-wide.

In partnering with NUMECA, Advania Data Centers is further advancing its role as a leading service provider of general HPC services as well as specialized software applications. Explains Staffan Hansson, Advania Data Centers’ HPC Sales Specialist, “Our customers are increasingly turning to us to provide the full range of HPC services, from HPC clusters to the applications that run on them, and are drawn to the fact that our services are scalable, economical and secure. By partnering with Numeca, we are able to offer flexible, on-demand access to CFD and multiphysics modelling resources at a fraction of the cost of bringing it in house. This makes it accessible to a wider audience of engineering professionals than ever before.”
