OptimaNumerics names John Parkinson as Chairman of the Board

News OptimaNumerics, the leading provider of high performance numerical software, today announced that Dr John M Parkinson has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board.

“I am looking forward to working closely with John as we expand our leadership position in the high performance computing market,” said Dr Kenneth Tan, Founder and CEO. “John's skills and experience in the high performance computing market serving the most demanding customers will be invaluable in guiding the company to its next level of strength.”

Dr Parkinson said, “The supercomputing market is changing very rapidly with introduction of new technologies in multicore processors and major systems leveraging large numbers of multicore processors. OptimaNumerics is well positioned in the market, with its highly efficient libraries which have been proven to be highly scalable.”

Dr Parkinson is a veteran in the high performance computing industry, having held senior management positions in both hardware and software companies, including Silicon Graphics, Netmap, Apollo and PRIME. He was among the initial technical team at NAG Ltd. At Silicon Graphics, Dr Parkinson held several senior management roles including EMEA Director for Channel Sales and European Marketing Director.
