News CFX is offering a new series of free web-based demonstrations for engineers with different CFD interests. These demonstrations are live and interactive and performed by experienced CFD engineers.

These web events include:

CFX for the Marine Industry – October 24

CFX has been trusted by the marine industry worldwide to provide the CFD software and knowledge required to optimize design to decrease noise, stress & vibration, lower energy needs, increase safety and meet regulatory requirements. Examples as well as a live demonstration of CFX software showing superior parallelization, advanced turbulence models, accurate multiphase and free surface models and efficient mesh generation and grid attachment abilities will be presented.

CFX-5 Live – October 31 and November 21

CFX-5 is the best-in-class Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software from CFX. CFX-5 greatly assists our customers in improving their profits by rapidly optimizing every aspect of fluid flow analysis within their overall product design and manufacturing processes.

For those unfamiliar with CFX-5, this web seminar contains a step by step demonstration of CFX-5 from geometry creation and import, through meshing, to solution and post-processing. Features of CFX-5 to be demonstrated include grid adaption, parallelization set-up and CFX Expression Language.

Introduction to CFX-BladeGen – November 14

CFX-BladeGen is a specialized easy-to-use three-dimensional software tool for the rapid design of rotating machinery components. A unique feature of the software is its 'Plus' module which enables rapid 3-D viscous flow screening of the design through an embedded and fully automated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver. This permits early pre-selection of profiles and reduces the number of iterations needed to develop optimum blade design. This hour-long web demonstration will provide an opportunity for you to ask question and see CFX-BladeGen in action.

CFX for Combustion and Radiation – November 20

The seminar will provide an introduction to combustion and radiation modeling capabilities within CFX, including Eddy Dissipation modeling, custom reactions features, flamelet model capabilities, liquid fuel modeling, coal combustion modeling, P1 radiation modeling for participating medium, surface-to-surface radiation modeling for non-participating medium, and finite volume radiation modeling for the most general range of radiation problems. A demonstration will be given which includes the entire process of setting-up, running and analyzing a small industrial furnace. This will include:

  • import of IGES geometry
  • specification of fluid domain and relevant physics
  • application of boundary conditions
  • application of initial conditions
  • setting solver parameters
  • generating the unstructured mesh
  • running the solver
  • post-processing the results

Finally, a questions and discussion session will be held which will allow participants to better understand how CFX can solve their specific problems.

All events require both a telephone and an internet connection. Due to audio limitations, events are available only in North America.
