Modeling flow and reactions in automotive aftertreatment systems has become very important for automobile and engine manufacturers due to the stringent emission regulations. Recent developments within FLUENT 6.2 provide engineers with valuable tools to simulate processes in aftertreatment devices, including catalyst reactions, particulate loading and regeneration, and cold-start process. In this presentation we will cover a description of the current capabilities in FLUENT 6.2 regarding catalyst reaction, soot loading and regeneration, and light-off prediction.
