News Transitional boundary layer flows are important in many applications of engineering interest, such as aircraft wings, flaps, turbomachinery blade rows and wind turbines.

This webinar will present an overview of industrial strength transition models available in CFD solvers from ANSYS. Applications in aerospace and turbomachinery industries will be discussed.

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology has advanced significantly into the design process in recent years, as numerical methods have improved and computational power has become less expensive. Along with this advance, the importance of transition modeling in the design has paved the way for coupling transition correlations to CFD solvers.

Presenter:
Dr. Florian Menter, Development Manager, Fluid Business Unit, ANSYS, Inc. Dr. Menter is leading the CFD activities in turbulence and acoustics at ANSYS. He has developed some of the most widely used industrial turbulence models, like the Shear Stress Transport (SST) model and the Scale-Adaptive Simulation (SAS) methodology. Dr. Menter was also engaged in the formulation of engineering models for laminar-turbulent flow transition. His work with Robin Langtry has resulted in the g-ReQ transition model, which will be a central part of the presentation.
