Announcements CD-adapco will host Battery Systems Modeling for Cells, Packs and Installations on 15 February, 2011 at 10:30am EST.

Batteries have emerged as a key technology to the success of alternatively powered transportation. The simulation of flow, thermal and electrochemistry phenomena within one simulation environment is now possible, providing the user with all the multi-physics capability required to accurately simulate battery behavior in such installations.

This online webinar will present the first released solution resulting from a partnership of CD-adapco and Battery Design LLC. Attendees will see for the first time a comprehensive fully coupled flow-thermal-electrochemistry solution to model battery systems from the individual cell representation to the pack and its inclusion to a full vehicle installation.

Specifically, all of the fluid flow and heat-transfer capabilities, including multiple fluid-solid domains, conjugate heat transfer, multi-phase flow, radiation etc available in CD-adapco's STAR-CCM+ will be coupled to the full range of cell models developed by Battery Design LLC.

Guest Speaker: Bob Spotnitz, President of Battery Design LLC
Industry expert and leading battery system modeler Bob Spotnitz will present the models that are now available for the electro-chemistry of Li-ion cells. He will be joined by CD-adapco's CFD experts who will provide a live demo highlighting the critical flow-thermal-electrochemistry capability and the engineering process necessary to make realistic calculations of large-scale battery installations.
