Announcements Advanced Design Technology will host Multi-objective Optimization of Pumps in two sessions on September 5th and 6th.

This one hour demonstration webinar will demonstrate application of 3D inverse design code TURBOdesign1 coupled with automatic optimization code TURBOdesign Optima to multi-objective and multi-point design optimization of mixed-flow and centrifugal pumps.

The demonstration will cover three practical examples:
  • Multi-objective design optimization of an industrial centrifugal pump impeller for high efficiency and good cavitation performance by using Multi-objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA);
  • Multi-objective and multi-disciplinary design optimization of a waterjet mixed-flow pump impeller for high efficiency, good cavitation performance and low dynamic stresses via MOGA.
  • Multi-point, multi-objective design optimization of an industrial mixed-flow pump impeller for high efficiency at multiple operating points subject to cavitation and maximum motor constraints by using Design of Experiments, Response Surface modelling and then running MOGA on the response surface.

The webinar will show how the inverse design method can be used to easily parametrize the blade with few design parameters but covering a large part of the design space. Also it will be shown how the range of the design parameters can be set within a feasible range and how inverse design optimization automatically satisfies the required specific work/ Euler head for each design, hence resulting in substantial saving in computational time. Furthermore, the importance of accuracy of the response surface will be discussed by using detailed error analysis.

A 15min Q&A Session will be held at the end of the Webinar to answer participants’ questions.
