Internal Combustion Engine Workshop

Announcements CD-adapco will host the 14th Annual Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Workshop on April 19th in Dearborn, Michigan.

This event brings together users of CD-adapco’s STAR-CD and es-ice engine simulation products, provides a forum to hear about the latest and forthcoming developments and examines technical issues of interest with other users.

  • "Predictive modeling enabling industry: Combustion CFD analysis led design at Cummins," presented by John Deur, Cummins Inc.
  • "Application of LES multi-cycle analysis on a high performance GDI engine for the investigation of cycle-to-cycle variations in combustion and knock," presented by Stefano Fontanesi, Stefano Paltrinieri and Alessandro d’Adamo, University of Modena
  • "LES and PDF engine combustion modeling using STAR-CD," presented by Dan Haworth, Penn State University

In addition to user presentations, CD-adapco will describe studies conducted to improve the predictiveness of ICE calculations, capabilities that will be available in the upcoming v4.20 release and long-term roadmap developments.

  • "Towards a reliable methodology for SI-DGI engine modelling using ECFM combustion model families. Special investigation on spark modelling and knock," presented by Marc Zellat
  • "es-ice: An update on ease-of-use and robustness," presented by Gerald Schmidt
  • "Multi-fuel and mixed-mode IC engine combustion simulation with a detailed chemistry-based progress variable library approach," presented by Tao Bo & Rajesh Rawat
  • "Modelling of real fuels: A realistic approach to fuel chemistry," presented by Fabian Mauss, Diganars
  • "Droplet-wall impingement modeling for IC-engine applications," presented by Shengming Chang
  • "ICE simulation: CD-adapco roadmap," presented by Richard Johns
