Traditional methods of designing particle transport systems rely on experience, correlations and basic principles of physics. Experimentation is necessary to verify the designs.
Simulation, specifically using the Discrete Element Method (DEM), can be employed to assess the suitability of designs. It is a technique where the flow and transport of solids is numerically calculated using the basic laws of motion. Nuances due to shape, size, friction and geometrical parameters can be studied in a scientific manner to evaluate and optimize transport system designs.
This webinar will introduce the DEM available within STAR-CCM+® and its application to particle transport. A live demonstration will show how a system simulation and various property parameters of material can both be set up. Examples will be presented showing the application of this method to particle transport.
This webinar is free, but registration is required to obtain log in credentials. Please visit our event page for further details.
