Announcements Convergent Science together with Lawrence Livermore National Lab and NVIDIA will feature a webinar on Advancements in High-Fidelity Combustion Kinetics on GPUs on June 04, 2015 from 9:30am to 10:30am US CDT.

LLNL scientist Dr. Russell Whitesides will describe development of a chemistry solver that leverages the computing power of GPUs to bring higher fidelity simulations to the engine R&D cycle. Also, Stan Posey will examine HPC trends with a primer on GPU technology for acceleration of CFD applications.

The work discussed is motivated by the need for accurate prediction of ignition characteristics and emissions in current and proposed engine operating modes. Capturing these phenomena remains a challenge due to the computational expense of detailed chemistry in highly-resolved simulations. The techniques and algorithms discussed are being developed as part of a joint research effort between LLNL, CSI, and additional collaborative partners including industry.
