We start with the placement and function of one dimensional flow components to model the complete system and then perform one major case study. The case study consists of a steady state analysis of initial pressure and flow distribution throughout the aircraft fuel system during a ground refueling scenario.
After the initial study, a flow balancing procedure is proposed to evenly distribute fuel between both sides of the aircraft as it is refueled.
Lastly, a transient surge analysis is performed and presented to investigate the potentially harmful effects of a sudden valve closure.
Parts two and three of the series will build on the initial study presented here and cover topics such as fuel tank inerting and full flight profile modeling using script based controls.
