Announcements Tecplot will host How Aerion Technologies Generates Aerodynamic Databases with Hydra: A Framework in Python Using Cart3D, GoCart and Tecplot on December 8th at 10am PST.

Aerodynamic databases are comprised of a large number of CFD runs that when composited together can predict aspects of performance over a variation in operating conditions or design variables.

Databases are commonly used in the assessment of the vehicle’s performance quantified in range or handling qualities. Other uses include quantifying loads as inputs in the vehicle’s structural analysis.

Hydra is a tool that facilitates the generation of large aero databases. The integrated framework in Python uses Cart3D, GoCart, Tecplot 360 and Tecplot Chorus – and is much easier than writing different and cumbersome scripts. Hydra allows you to launch numerous cases, monitor the progress of the computations, restart specific runs, and easily post-process all of the output. It can work with queuing systems to take advantage of the parallel computing architectures of modern clusters.
