Opening The purpose of this job is to provide professional expertise as a fully competent engineer within a formal engineering process or a major project. Coordinates and performs complex engineering tasks that support the mission of the unit, department and/or VTNA. Serves in a specialist capacity for a complex area of limited scope. Requires the ability to interpret the principles, theories and concepts of a specialized engineering area or assignment. Serves as an experienced engineer in a specialized and/or complicated area of assignment requiring limited direction and supervision. Plans, develops and completes engineering projects in CAD within an area of assignment. Heavy emphasis is placed on level of expertise; knowledge; originality; analysis; interaction within department and external organizations; and detailed documentation and report writing. Assures compliance with all applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARP, etc.) relating to his/her area of responsibility. Conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of components, sub-systems and full under-hood CFD simulations for heavy trucks.
