Hanley Announces WingTail Calculator 2.0

News Hanley Innovations, a leader in aerodynamics conceptual and preliminary design software, announces the availability of WingTail Calculator 2.0 and WingTail Calculator Plus, 2.0.The Wing Tail Calculator accurately computes lift, drag (vortex and profile) and moment (about the center of gravity) for isolated airfoils, single wings or two-wing systems (or keel-rudder interaction). It can also predict the neutral point (or aerodynamic center) location and the angle of trim.

The WingTail Calculator uses the vortex lattice method (based on vortex rings) for non-planar lifting surface analysis; a linear strength vortex panel methods for airfoil analysis; a novel solution of the ordinary differential equation form of the boundary layer equation for computing profile drag. The resulting formulation naturally treats cambered, tapered and twisted surfaces. WingTail can be used to solve problems related to wing and control surface sizing, aerodynamics loading (lift & drag forces), cross section shapes (airfoils), control surface placement and stability determination.
