News ThermoAnalytics, Inc. of Calumet, Mich., has released version 10.5 of its MuSES, RadTherm, and RadThermIR thermal analysis software.

Key features in version 10.5 include user defined part, element, and vertex IDs, the addition of a specular surface condition type, enhancements to the summary table and an upgrade to MODTRAN 5.

“This current version of our thermal software suite represents our third feature-packed release in 2012. Most of the new features were born out of customer requests and represent a powerful new capability for thermal management analysis. From the ability to precisely predict specular solar reflections from shiny surfaces, to accurately evaluate human thermal comfort, to faster case set-up, ThermoAnalytics software provides the most powerful thermal modeling tool on the planet,” says Keith Johnson, CEO of ThermoAnalytics.

A new specular surface condition type has been added which allows simulation of directional solar energy reflecting off of mirror-like surfaces. Also, a specular surfaces accuracy setting has been added which provides a trade-off of runtime versus accuracy of the specular reflected energy.

User defined part, element, and vertex IDs can now be imported into the application from mesh or neutral files. This will be beneficial for utilizing part numbering schemes in the simulation process and interfacing with other CAE applications. There have also been several enhancements to the Summary Table. The search feature can now perform queries on a single boundary condition or all boundary conditions. Multiple searches can be applied simultaneously for complex queries on boundary condition sets. Assemblies are now listed in the Summary Table and can be added, edited, deleted, or searched.

“Human Thermal Module (HTM) users will have even more tools at their disposal in v10.5. The HTM now outputs industry-standard environment-based comfort metrics such as Fanger’s PMV/PPD and Equivalent Temperature. In addition, Berkeley Comfort Model users will find it easier than ever to choose appropriate comfort setpoints for their simulations, including custom setpoints that can reflect cultural and physiological preferences of a specific population,” said Vice-President Allen Curran, PhD. No-cost evaluation licenses are available to qualified organizations.
